Come up to the beautiful setting on our farm just outside of Weston to enjoy tastings of five wines from Vox Vineyards paired with cheeses from Green Dirt Farm. With the opening of Terra Vox Winery in Farley, Missouri last year, founder Jerry Eisterhold embarked on an innovative adventure in wine making: using rare American indigenous grapes to craft his wines. Jerry has been cultivating native North American grape varieties and experimenting with creating wines from them for the past twenty years on his farm in Farley. This is a fundamentally different approach to U.S. winemaking that departs from the usual strategy of using French grape varietals to make American wine. Jerry’s experiments in creating wines using native American grapes have paid off with some delicious flavors that express the uniqueness of the region’s soil and biodiversity. Come and savor these truly remarkable wines paired with GDF cheeses. Jerry will be on hand to discuss his radical adventure in winemaking, including why the biodiversity of the region’s ecosystems has yielded an incredible abundance of wild grape varieties and how these can be used to express true Missouri terroir in wines from the region. GDF founder Sarah Hoffmann will cohost and discuss flavor and terroir in dairy products and cheese making.
