GDF Events: Frequently Asked Questions

What should I expect at a Creamery Event?

Creamery Events take place at our cozy café on Welt Street in Weston (Green Dirt Farm Creamery.) During our barn events off-season, we host various events, including cheese and charcuterie board building classes, home cheese-making classes, and special occasion dinners. Please be sure to check the information on your tickets to confirm the location of your event.

What should I expect at a Cheese Tasting Event?

Cheese Tasting Events take place in our beautiful covered barn just north of Weston, Missouri, located about 35 miles north of Kansas City. The series of seasonal cheese tastings feature the best regional, small batch American cheeses and other locally handcrafted foods and beverages. Each event is designed around a specific food, beverage or style of cheese. Our tasting events are a fun and casual way to experience some truly remarkable flavor combinations. Attendees learn about and sample cheeses crafted by Green Dirt Farm. You will learn about the history of the cheese, the style, and how to pair them. We partner with local breweries, wineries and distributors to provide insights into beverage choices. And, again this year, we’re teaming up with the brightest stars of this area’s food scene with new events as well as our well-loved themes from previous seasons.

What should I expect at a Farm Table Dinner?

Every Farm Table Dinner is a one-of-a-kind dining experience. Held in the fully covered barn on our farm just north of Weston, Missouri, a Farm Table Dinner is a feast for all your senses. Your dinner will start with a sampling of our delicious cheeses and a seasonal cocktail, served while you enjoy the beautiful setting of our farm and entertainment from talented local musicians. You will meet our local guest chef as he or she prepares dinner. Once all guests have arrived, we will sit down at the harvest table to a five-course plated dinner prepared by the guest chef that features our grass-fed lamb and award-winning artisan cheeses. In keeping with our focus on local food culture, other ingredients—such as produce—are sourced from area farmers. Each course will be paired with a carefully selected wine. At each course, the chef will discuss the ingredients used, where they came from, and what inspired each dish. Here’s a typical schedule for our dinners: cocktail hour begins at 5:00 pm, and guests sit down to dinner at 6:00 pm, dinner is usually concluded by 8:30 pm, and you’re encouraged to linger to enjoy coffee, companionship, and the night sky as long as you like. Check your emails specific to your event to confirm the start times.

What if I have Dietary Restrictions?

Please let us know about your dietary restrictions before you purchase tickets. In most cases our chefs will be able to honor your restrictions and if a dish can’t be modified will offer a different dish. However, we must know about your needs well in advance in order to have time to create something special for you.

What if I Don’t Drink Alcohol?

Please let us know at least one week in advance of your event. We will create special non-alcoholic beverages to pair with your meal courses.

How many people can attend?

Up to 36 people sit at a single long harvest table or on cozy side tables in our fully covered barn. Seating is reserved using the name of the person who bought the tickets. If you bought tickets separately from people you’d like to sit with, please let us know before the event by emailing events@greendirtfarm.com.

What time do events begin?

Each Cheese Tasting Event is offered on a Saturday or Sunday from 3:00-5:00 pm (unless noted otherwise). Farm Table Dinners begin with a cocktail hour at 5:00 pm followed by dinner starting at 6:00 pm. Occassionally start times will vary, please check your specific event to confirm the start time.

How do I get tickets?

You may purchase tickets to any of our events right here on the Green Dirt Farm website. To stay up to date on announcements regarding events at the farm, subscribe to our newsletter, and follow us on Instagram. Tickets are non-refundable and available on a first come, first served basis.

What’s included in the ticket price?

Tickets to Cheese Tasting Events include cheeses, beverage pairings, and accompaniments. Tickets to Farm Table Dinners are all-inclusive, including a reception with a sampling of our cheese, a seasonal cocktail, a five-course plated dinner with wine pairings at each course, featured chef and service staff, fees, and gratuities. If you would like to make a cash tip for exceptional service from our staff, please provide that directly to the staff member at the event or to our Events Manager at the event.

What forms of payment do you accept?

All payments must be made online through our website. You may pay with Visa, Mastercard or American Express. Sorry, we cannot accept cash or checks.

Do you accept reservations for large groups?

Because seating is limited, we suggest that, if you have more than 8 people in your party, you contact events@greendirtfarm.com about arranging a private event for you. We do assign seating for our dinner events. In order to be sure you can sit next to members of your party, please be sure to let us know your preferences by emailing us at events@greendirtfarm.com.

What if something happens and I can’t use my tickets?

Though purchased tickets are non-refundable, they are transferable.

If you transfer your tickets, please email events@greendirtfarm.com. And be sure to include the purchaser’s name, the number of tickets transferred, and contact information so we can effectively communicate the event’s details.

Car Service/Taxi/Limo information

Our dinners and tastings include liberal amounts of alcohol so we encourage you to designate a sober driver for your trip home. Many of our guests hire taxis or car services for the trip to and from the farm. However, cell phone service at our events barn on the farm is extremely poor so it’s important that you arrange your trip home ahead of time or have your driver wait for you. You will not be able to arrange a taxi or car service once you arrive for events at the farm. For events held at our café in Weston, you will have much easier access to car services and arrangements can be made before, during, or after events there.

Under what conditions might an event be canceled?

For events at the farm, excessive temperatures—too high or too low—may result in cancellation. For events at our shop in Weston, ice or snow resulting in poor driving conditions may cause us to reschedule the event. We make every effort to create a comfortable environment in the barn, but Mother Nature occasionally wins.

We may also cancel or reschedule an event if too few tickets are sold. In either case, we’ll make the decision a few days in advance and notify guests by telephone. If we need to cancel or reschedule an event, ticket holders may opt to attend a future event or receive a full refund.

What if it rains?

All events are held rain or shine in our fully covered barn. Parking is a very short walk from the barn.

Is a tour of the farm included?

Tours of the farm are generally not included with Cheese Tasting Events or Farm Table Dinners. However, there will be a presentation about our farm given by a Green Dirt Farm host, and we will be available after the event to answer your questions. Please visit our Tours page here for more information about scheduling a tour.

Is there a waitlist for sold out events?

Sorry, no. Because our event tickets are non-refundable, additional seats rarely become available. Sometimes we are aware of tickets that a guest wishes to sell or transfer, so feel free to ask by emailing events@greendirtfarm.com and we’ll do our best to help out!

Occasionally, someone who purchased tickets needs to sell them.

Also, we will occasionally add new events as the season goes on, so be sure to subscribe to our newsletter to receive updates about newly added events.

How do I get to the farm?

For turn by turn directions, as well as a Google Map, please see our Green Dirt Farm venue page. We will also send directions and other information via email leading up to the event. Please be sure to add us to your trusted contacts so that our emails do not go to your spam folder.

What about parking?

If you are coming for a dinner or tasting event on our farm, please follow these directions: As you drive into our property, you’ll see a ranch-style house at the top of the driveway. Continue along the drive to the right of the house, back to the events barn. Parking is available adjacent to the barn.

If you are coming to an event at The Creamery you will be able to park in the lot adjacent to the café.

***If you are coming for a Cookout or a festival event there is no parking at the farm (there is just not enough room). Please follow the directions in your emails about shuttle buses.

May I purchase some of your cheese at the event?

Yes! We will have a nice selection of our cheeses available for purchase after our Cheese Tasting events. We encourage you to visit our Creamery in Weston before Farm Table Dinners or Cheese Tasting events to see a wide variety of delicious foods handcrafted by local and regional food artisans.

You may also order cheese via our Online Store for pickup at our Creamery in Weston.

Do you host private events?

Yes. Please contact us for availability as we host a number of Cheese Tasting Events and Farm Table Dinners throughout the season. Please contact events@greendirtfarm.com for further details.

May I smoke at the farm?
